About this place
At Syuto Ebisu, you can choose how to enjoy your fish. The menu features whole fish sourced from Toyosu that day and grilled in the traditional hearth style, with the selection changing daily and prices starting at 800 yen. One diner who ordered the grilled sweetfish remembered its fragrant, crisp exterior and tender, fluffy flesh. The fish is a daily surprise, making this a good choice for a meal centred on grilled fish or for an evening of sharing a plate or two with drinks.
There are raw seafood dishes, too, including the day’s namerō, a fish tartare-style preparation made with that day’s catch. A rainbow trout skewer pairs the fish’s savoury flavour with fragrant shiso and tart plum paste. The seared stingray fin comes with sansho pepper and seven-spice seasoning; the menu describes its flavour as savoury with a gentle sweetness that builds as you chew. Small plates range from light bites to more robust drinking snacks, so you can choose what to pair with your drink.
For a hearty finish, or a dish beyond seafood, try the beef tendon simmered in sake. The tendon is cooked until tender, with a gentle flavour enriched by its savoury juices. Charcoal-grilled rice balls make another satisfying final course: they are golden outside and fluffy within, and come with either soy sauce or sweet miso with green chilli. The latter offers a chance to finish on a more distinctive note.
Syuto Ebisu is an izakaya with counter and table seating, where guests can dine in. Dinner reservations are available and recommended.
